Chris McCloskey is Vice President, NBC Sports Group Communications. With 20 years of sports public relations experience, McCloskey oversees communications efforts for many of the NBC Sports Group’s most prestigious properties, including the Olympics, Football Night in America, the National Hockey League, Notre Dame Football, Formula One, IndyCar, and more.
He also leads corporate communications for NBC Sports Group’s sales and marketing departments, NBC Sports Radio, and NBC Sports Digital. McCloskey reports directly to Greg Hughes, Senior Vice President, NBC Sports Group Communications.
Before joining NBC Sports, McCloskey served as a brand strategy consultant focused on communications and sports marketing for a number of clients, including Phillips-Van Heusen, NBC Sports and the United States Olympic Committee. He also served as an adjunct professor at Iona College’s Hagan School of Business where he taught a course on sports and entertainment communications strategy.
Prior to consulting, McCloskey was Executive Vice President, Communications, at the Arena Football League. McCloskey oversaw all communications elements at the AFL and dramatically increased its media coverage, which contributed to significant increases in attendance and television exposure, and a doubling of franchise values.
Many of the skills McCloskey utilized during his six-year AFL tenure were learned while working for nine years in the communications department of the National Football League. While at the NFL, McCloskey conducted Super Bowl press conferences, supervised all media services at the NFC Championship Game and NFL Combine, and created publicity campaigns for the players attending the NFL Draft.
McCloskey is a graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He resides in Darien, Conn. with his wife and their two daughters, Callie and Kate. McCloskey’s wife is Renie Anderson, who serves as Vice President, Business Development, for the National Football League.
